NSF announces $77.8M investment to build climate resilience capacity across 21 EPSCoR jurisdictions
Today, the U.S. National Science Foundation announced a $77.8 million investment in 14 projects through the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). Spanning 50 institutions across 21 jurisdictions, this investment aims to build research and development capacity and strengthen STEM education opportunities in states that have traditionally received lower levels of funding.
Twelve American Companies Will Help Expand Distributed Wind Across the Rural United States
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) announced plans to award $3.15 million to 12 American component suppliers and manufacturers of small- and medium-sized wind turbines as a part of the 2024 Competitiveness Improvement Project (CIP). These selections will advance distributed wind turbine technology through testing and commercialization, providing more certified technology options for clean energy deployment.

The U.S. National Science Foundation has awarded $35 million through the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Research Incubators for STEM Excellence Research Infrastructure Improvement (E-RISE RII) to boost research competitiveness, build partnerships across academic institutions and non-academic sectors and create workforce development opportunities.

The DOE has announced the selection of the first faculty cohort for the groundbreaking Faculty-Applied Clean Energy Sciences (FACES) Program. This program aims to bridge the gap between DOE laboratories and the academic community, enhance STEM education, and promote clean energy responsibility in social and environmental sciences. The FACES program, with a focus on providing real-world clean energy research opportunities, has made its final selections from minority-serving institutions (MSI) across the country, including Tribal colleges and universities (TCUs), Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs), historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian-serving institutions (ANNHSIs), and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-serving institution (AANAPISIs).
