NIH leader to head research and graduate education efforts at WVU Health Sciences
Ming Lei, who has served as director of the Division for Research Capacity at the National Institute of General Medical Sciences since 2008, will assume his new role as senior associate vice president for Research and Graduate Education at West Virginia University Health Sciences beginning Aug 1. Lei was tapped after a national search to replace the retiring Laura Gibson, whose leadership contributed to the University’s designation as an R1 — the highest level of research activity — institution. Lei will oversee the research activity and graduate education experience at Health Sciences.
32 Teams Prepare for the 2024 Collegiate Wind Competition
The DOE has announced the 32 college and university teams selected to participate in the 2024 Collegiate Wind Competition. The first round of teams will receive $2,000 in funding, which they can use to begin designing their prototype wind turbines, creating their wind energy project development plans, and developing their outreach strategies.
Teams representing the EPSCoR jurisdictions include:

• KANSAS State University
• University of NEW
NSF, EDA announce official coordination on regional innovation programs
The NSF and the EDA signed a memorandum of understanding to officially enable cross-agency coordination on regional innovation programs.
