Update from the EPSCoR/IDeA Coalition and Foundation

Dear EPSCoR/IDeA Community,

We wanted to alert you that Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith from Mississippi, a long-time champion of IDeA, will be introducing the IDeA Reauthorization bill next Tuesday. The legislation will codify IDeA’s eligibility requirements and reaffirm the support the program has in the Senate. The legislative text can be read here.

Introduction of this bill is important, not only to reauthorize the IDeA program, but it also comes at a pivotal time to demonstrate support for the IDeA program.

It would be very helpful if you could reach out to your Senate delegation and request that they sign on to Senator Hyde-Smith’s bill as a cosponsor. The deadline to sign on as an “original” cosponsor is Tuesday, June 10 at 11 am. It is also possible to still sign on as a cosponsor after this deadline. Hannah Willis, Senator Hyde-Smith’s legislative aide, is the hard working staffer who has been the lead on this in her office. Her email is: Hannah_Willis@hydesmith.senate.gov.
