White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Event: Presidential Budget Release

EIF Executive Director Jessica Molesworth attended the Presidential Budget Release Event at the White House yesterday morning, March 13. The event highlighted science, technology and innovation investments in President Biden’s recently released FY2024 Budget Request. Speakers included:

Following prepared remarks, Dr. Prabhakar moderated a discussion among Dr. Panchanathan, Dr. Locascio and Dr. Wegrzyn. The ideas of geographic diversity and that talent is everywhere throughout the country were recurring themes, especially in Dr. Panchanathan’s remarks. The NSF Director spoke of traveling throughout the country and cited visits to Mississippi State, Clemson, Wichita State and Pittsburgh State as examples. Dr. Panchanathan said he was more convinced than ever that talent and ideas are everywhere. He spoke of empowering regions and the talent within them. He lauded the unbelievable undergraduate, graduate and PhD students and unbelievable ecosystems at each of the places he visited. He described the aviation ecosystem at Wichita State and the auto innovation system at Clemson as “unparalleled.”
