Award Winner: Joseph G. Danek Award for recognizing service to the EPSCoR Community — Jeppie Compton (NASA EPSCoR)

In 2015, the EPSCoR/IDeA Coalition and Foundation Boards approved “the Danek Award,” given in the name of the “father of EPSCoR,” Dr. Joe Danek, to recognize individuals who develop the best ideas to resolve research disparity. In the words of Dr. Bill Gern, then Chair of the EIC Board of Directors, the Danek award would be presented before the EPSCoR/IDeA community to an awardee who “has established a long-term commitment to the ideals and goals which EPSCoR represents befitting for awarding of the prize.”

This year’s recipient is Jeppie Compton, National Project Manager, NASA EPSCoR. Jeppie holds a BS and MS in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. He joined NASA Kennedy Space Center in 2005 and has served in his position with NASA EPSCoR since 2011.
