Tools for Advocacy

Across the country, NSF EPSCoR and NIH IDeA programs are strengthening research capacity, expanding opportunity, and creating meaningful change in every state and territory—especially in rural and underserved regions.

To help you share these successes, we’ve compiled tools and resources on this page that are designed to make advocacy simple and effective.

Here, you’ll find an email template and a directory of congressional contacts you can use to communicate the positive impact your programs have on local communities, economies, and education.

Innovative scientific research is being conducted across the country in EPSCoR/IDeA jurisdictions. On this page, you’ll also find Science Works Here, a resource we’ve created to demonstrate how EPSCoR/IDeA programmatic research leads to scientific innovation that creates a brighter future for all. To be updated periodically, this page will include both video and written testimony directly from those who know this better than most: the professors, students, program leaders and staff members who work within these programs every day.

EPSCoR and IDeA community members can request an interview with an EIF team member or submit comments to share how their programs are making a difference and contribute to the Science Works Here campaign. These interviews and comment submissions will help us to highlight the people, discoveries, and partnerships driving progress in every jurisdiction. The information provided will be used to create articles, stories and other content to communicate to the broader community how EPSCoR and IDeA programs have and will continue to advance science, innovation, and opportunity nationwide.

Together, through open communication and shared advocacy, we can amplify the message that research matters, and it starts here.
