Dr. Belinda Sturm is an experienced Professor of environmental engineering and research administrator. She serves as Director of the Kansas NSF EPSCoR Office and as PI of the NSF RII Track-1 proposal, which aims to build research capacity and workforce development in Kansas. Dr. Sturm maintains an externally-funded research portfolio on resource recovery and sustainability of biological wastewater treatment. She is a part-time process consultant for water and wastewater utilities and engineering firms, guiding pilot testing, design review, and operator training.

The Sturm Research Group studies the application of biological processes in environmental engineering toward public health protection and sustainability. Dr. Sturm's primary interest is the use of microbial communities in water reclamation and resource recovery from municipal wastewater. Click here to learn more about the Sturm Research Group.
