Meet Idaho NSF EPSCoR Visiting Tribal Scholar Shanny Spang Gion. The two-year Visiting Tribal Scholar position was created at the University of Idaho to identify ways in which institutions of higher education could facilitate Indigenous student education, increase enrollment, and increase success rates of existing students. Shanny Spang Gion is Northern Cheyenne and Crow and an enrolled citizen of Northern Cheyenne. “EPSCoR has allowed me the space and provided support to explore and enact changemaking in higher education in service to and with Indigenous communities.”
